Who Are We?

Adaya Marcel.

My beloved Creator,

why are we here?

Were we created from

your loving thoughts

merely to wreak havoc

and hatred and destruction?

Were we birthed 

from an empathetic heart

just to perfect the arts

of brutality and apathy?

Were we born of stardust

only to stain this miracle with blood.

I am shattered into a thousand shards of light

at what we have done in the name of lust.

We were gifted with the ability
to heal with our hands,
to love from our hearts,
but far too often we prefer
to kill and hate with rapacious appetite.
Ephemeral madness repeated ad nauseam.

Do we have the courage to get it this time?
